Candle Care & Burning Tips

Get the most out of your Copper Creek candles with these simple care tips!

General Candle Care

• Always burn your candle long enough for the wax to melt evenly from edge to edge. This prevents tunneling and ensures a longer, more even burn.

• Place candles on a flat, heat-resistant surface, away from drafts.

• Never leave a burning candle unattended or near children, pets, or flammable materials.

• Do not burn for more than 4 hours at a time.

• Stop using your candle when ½ inch of wax remains at the bottom.

Wood Wick Candles

• Use a lighter to ignite the wooden wick near its base, holding the flame for approximately 5 seconds.

• Allow the wax to melt evenly across the surface, typically taking 1–2 hours.

• Before each burn, gently remove the charred wood from the wick using a wick dipper or spoon.

• Keep the unburned wooden wick approximately ⅛–¼ inch above the wax.

Cotton Wick Candles

• Trim wicks to ¼ inch before each use.

• For multi-wick candles, always light all wicks together.

• Allow the wax to melt evenly across the surface to prevent tunneling.

• Remove excess charred wick before relighting.

Using a Wick Dipper

Instead of blowing out your candle, gently dip the burning wick into the melted wax to extinguish the flame. Lift and straighten the wick afterward so it's ready for the next burn.
